As Social Media & Communications Coordinator, Shadan supports the growth of BCHA’s online presence and contribute to brand communications across key digital platforms. Her role involves creating content, producing short-form videos and reels, and assisting with communication strategies that highlight BCHA’s programs, services, and advocacy efforts.
Originally from Saskatoon, Shadan is currently studying Marketing with a Concentration in Business Law at UBC’s Sauder School of Business.
With a background in hospitality — having worked in restaurants from a young age — Shadan brings a deep appreciation for the industry and the people in it. She’s no stranger to marketing either, with hands-on experience at XMC as an Experiential Marketer and as Team Lead for the non-profit Child and Youth Friendly.
THE FUN STUFF
What is one thing you cannot live without? Music. My Spotify playlist is over 70 hours long, and according to my Spotify Wrapped, I racked up 220,262 minutes of listening time this year (yes, that’s about 42% of the year!).
If your younger self could see you now, what would she be most surprised by?
That I moved out of Saskatoon and now live with roommates in Vancouver. I think she’d be like, “Wait, you left home? You cook? You pay rent??” And I’d be like, “Yeah… somehow.” I think she’d be surprised that I’m actually doing the whole adulting thing — laundry, working corporate, figuring life out on my own. It’s not always perfect, but I’m doing it, and I think she’d be proud (and maybe a little confused).
What’s one small joy or ritual that makes your day better? As much as I love being around people, there’s something special about those 15–20 minutes I get to myself while commuting. AirPods in and playlist on. It’s a little moment of calm that sets the tone for my day.
If you could stay one night anywhere in the world – no budget limits – where would you go and what would the room look like? I’d stay in a secluded beachside villa with floor-to-ceiling mirrors and a massive skylight that lets the sunset pour in from every angle. The space would be minimal but warm — think soft linen sheets, neutral tones, and natural textures. Basically, a Pinterest board come to life.
