About the program

The Hospitality Insurance Program (HIP) by Western Financial Group provides innovative Commercial Insurance solutions for BCHA members. Beyond providing leading commercial coverage for hotels, motels, and lodges, HIP’s Protected Self Insurance (PSI) structure provides long-term rate stability and potential returns of premium back to members.

Program participants get access to a team of Risk Management Advisors who provide members with risk mitigation tips and strategies, as well as a library of resources to improve safety and reduce claims. This is just one more way that Western combats rising insurance costs with member focused solutions.

Benefits to BCHA members

Potential Returns of Premium: Through our PSI structure, members have ownership of premiums, and by implementing risk management strategies, all excess surpluses to claims paid are returned to program participants. Over $2.6 million in returns of premium have gone back to program participants.

Long-Term Rate Stability: Our innovative Group Program operates in a team function, keeping rates stable and allowing for the opportunity for returns of premium.

Proven Experience: A specialized team that focuses exclusively on hotels and motels, providing a personal and unmatched customer experience for the past 20+ years to thousands of Canadian hospitality businesses.

Efficiency: Dedicated in-house services—claims support and a risk management team that offer efficient and responsive assistance to your business, saving you time and money.

Program Flexibility: Our hospitality experts create innovative insurance strategies, giving you coverage options that can be tailored to your business needs.
