For Jan Brylowski, hospitality has always been about people. As General Manager of Blackcomb Springs Suites by Clique Hotels and Resorts, he brings more than 15 years of leadership experience shaped by roles across Canada and internationally, from Montreal and the Canadian Rockies to the French Alps and British Columbia.
Holding an MBA from HEC Montréal, Jan is known for pairing operational excellence with a strong focus on team culture and professional development. He recently joined the BC Hotel Association Board of Directors, where he brings a global perspective and a passion for supporting the future of BC’s hotel industry.
We spoke with Jan about the experiences that have shaped his career, his approach to leadership, and the opportunities ahead for hospitality in British Columbia.

What has been your proudest career achievement to date?
“My proudest career achievement has been building relationships that last well beyond a single role or property. I have been fortunate to lead teams in Montreal, the Canadian Rockies, the French Alps, and now in Whistler, but what means the most to me is seeing former colleagues reach out years later wanting to work together again. Some have joined my teams at different hotels, in different provinces, and even from overseas. I find that incredibly humbling and take it as a reminder that hospitality is ultimately a people business. More than any title or promotion, I am proud of the cultures we have built and the relationships that have endured along the way.”

What inspired you to become involved with the BC Hotel Association Board?
“The hospitality industry has provided me with tremendous opportunities throughout my career, and serving on the BCHA Board is a way to give back to an industry that has given so much to me. I wanted the opportunity to contribute beyond my own hotel, collaborate with industry leaders from across the province, and help advocate for the issues that matter most to accommodation providers and hospitality professionals in British Columbia.”

What trends or opportunities are you most excited about for the future of hospitality in BC?
“I am excited by the opportunity for our industry to continue evolving as a meaningful and long-term career path. Hospitality offers incredible opportunities for growth, leadership development, and entrepreneurship, but we need to do a better job of showcasing those opportunities to the next generation. BC is home to some of the most unique tourism destinations in the world, and I believe our industry’s future depends on attracting, developing, and retaining talented people while continuing to deliver exceptional guest experiences.”
