In today’s tech-driven world, the hotel industry has evolved to manage a wide range of digital assets, from guest data to financial records. This digital shift orders great advantages but also exposes hotel to
new cybersecurity risks.

September 2023 Booking.com was hacked, and Perception Point’s research indicates the extent of these threats are increasing. These hackers breached hotel systems, taking control of the hotels account on
Booking.com, they hacked the guest list with names, booking dates, hotel details, and partial payment methods used for reservations.

Using this data, they crafted individual messages, using social engineering techniques to create a sense of urgency. The attackers then sent the messages with a link that led to a phishing page, mirroring Booking.com interface. Guests thought their booking may be cancelled clicked the link and filled out the form including payment.
